BOOTCAT wurde 2014 in Altdorf bei Nürnberg gegründet. Evelyn Cerny und Wolfgang Völkl, ursprünglich als Duo „Zwei Leute, ein Klavier“ mit Chansons und Musical unterwegs, sattelten die Pferde gen Westen und holten Mitmusiker an Bord, die allesamt schon in der einen oder anderen Besetzung in dieser oder jener Kombination zusammen musiziert hatten. Eine echte regionale All-Star-Band also.
